Nexgen poker chips are probably the most popular customizable poker chips available. There are several reasons for their popularity including: 1. A recessed center that allows for custom labels 2. The ability to hot stamp them with your initials, denominations, or your own design 3. A softer feel and better sound than most other composite chips in their price range, 4. Good color and edge spots and finally the most important, 5. The Price! It is hard to get all of this in a poker chip for a better price.

There are 4 different lines of Nexgens which are named and numbered: 1. Nexgen Las Vegas Edge Spot or Nexgen 8000 2. Nexgen Multi Colored Edge Spot or Nexgen 8002 3. Nexgen River Poker Tour or Nexgen 8100 and 4. Nexgen Lucky Bee or Nexgen 8200. Those are the four lines although two of them have been discontinued, which are the Nexgen 8002 and 8100. For the most part they are all made of the same material, have a metal insert, and weigh about the same. The real difference is how they look, the colors offered, and how they feel. The 8000 and 8002 lines use the same mold and feel identical. So it is just a matter of which colors and spot patterns you like better. Also the 8000 line does have diamonds on the edge of the chips while the 8002 does not. These chips have a slightly textured outer rim on the face of the chip with a smooth recessed center that will hold a 1 inch label. They do feel sort of like a chalky plastic mixture but still much better than other composite chips in this price range. The chips are a little slick but not bad. I could not find an injection mold pimple but there is a very small seam along the edges of each chip. You probably won't notice this unless you are looking for it. The River Poker Tour has a different mold with 2 cowboy hats and River Poker Tour molded into the chip. Three of the chips in this line have single color spots with diamonds on the outside while the other four chips have multi-color edge spots with no diamonds. The River Poker Tour line is probably the slickest of the Nexgens in my opinion. The face is a lot smoother. Nexgen Lucky Bees have 8 bees molded around the chip with slight texture on the outer face and a smooth recessed center. All of the Lucky Bee chips have multi colored edge spots with no diamonds on the edges.

All Nexgen chips basically sound the same. The sound is much better than dice or suited styles of ABS chips. It is not nearly as high pitched as those but also not as good as real clay chips. The extra weight gives it more of a thud but you can still hear a little metallic sound. Check out the videos below to hear them. Adding labels to these does help improve the sound a little.

The bottom line is that you will probably not find a better composite blank chip that can be used as is or customized with labels/hot stamping for a better price. There is a reason that these chips are very popular, they are Great Chips at a Great Price! Also, check out the comparison video review above in the ProGen review section to judge this chip against some of its competition.
