Paulson Top Hat and Cane poker chips or World Top Hat chips are the some of the newest Paulson poker chips to hit the home market. The good news is that, these chips feature a new mold that is much better than the other "Paulson Chips" mold used on the Paulson Classics, Pharaohs, and National Poker Series chips. The mold is a big improvement in that it now features 4 Tophat and Cane logos and 4 sets of card suits molded around the chip. These are outlined by 2 concentric circles. The inlay area is recessed a little into the chip. The face of the chips have a very light texture to them and the inlay area is completely smooth. The chips come with very sharp edges and vibrant colors. It is not necessary to oil these chips. One downside to these chips and all paulson chips is that because they are slightly softer in composition than other clay chips, they are known to transfer colors from chip to chip if you rub them against eachother (or shuffle them).

The biggest feature of these new Paulson chips besides the new mold is the inlay. Each inlay has its own shape. The inlays are actually cut into the shapes shown. They are not just printed to look like shapes. The inlay design is very simple and professional looking with the words "Top Hat and Cane" and an image of a top hat and cane the central focus. There is also a denomination that is red outlined by black. The denominations do not have a dollar sign or any currency symbol so they will work well for any poker player around the world (hence the name World Top Hat). It appears Paulson has again relaxed some of its restrictions on base/edge spot colors and patterns as these chips feature color and spot combinations that have not been seen on other Paulson chips.

Overall these are excellent Paulson chips that have perfect sound, feel, and weight. If you like the inlay designs and chip colors, you will not be disappointed with the real chips. You should be able to find them at around $1.10/chip from Royal Poker Supply and other vendors. The video reviews below also feature a comparison review of these Top Hat and Cane chips versus ASM Horsehead Mold and Samurai Palace (Blue Chip Company) poker chips.
