Tri Color Ace King 14g poker chips may be some of the most popular composite chips on the market in addition to the NexGen chips reviewed above. They are a considerable improvement over the typical 11.5g Dice or Suited styles of poker chips. They do have a metal insert for the added weight, however something in the mixture has deadened the sound a little bit so it doesn't have that same high pitched sound that is common on Dice poker chips. The chips are quite heavy at 14 grams. They have no real texture to the surface so they are a little slick but they do stack very well.
The quality of these chips is decent. There are occasinal errors in the printing but for the most part, they look great. There are diamonds on the rolling edges of each chip along with edge spots. Be aware that the purple chip is somewhat similar in color to the black chip. Another thing to think about is that these chips have changed colors over the years so it might be difficult to add to an existing set if the colors are changed again in the future. One advantage to these chips is that they can be hot stamped with your initials, a custom, design, or denominations. These are very popular chips for doing hot stamps.
The bottom line is that these are some of the most popular composite chips out there because of their weight, sound, and inexpensive price. They are readily available in a wide variety of colors for under $.20/chip. Just make sure you get a sturdy case to hold these because they are heavy! Also, check out the comparison video review above in the ProGen review section to judge this chip against some of its competition.
